Bookworm Hike | Friday, Feb. 20, 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. (Elko and Battle Mountain)
Dress as your favorite book character, bring a book to exchange with a friend, and be prepared for a kid-friendly walk! Join the short, kid-friendly hike, pause to explore nature along the way, and then gather to read a story outdoors. This gentle adventure encourages movement, curiosity, and a love of reading—perfect for young explorers and book lovers alike.

Nature Journaling – Snowflakes! | Saturday, Feb. 21, 10:30 a.m.-noon (Minden)
All supplies will be provided. Explore the mysteries of snowflakes, learn snowflake vocabulary, and draw three types of snow-flakes. The workshop is free but there’s a suggested donation of $20. Being held at River Fork Ranch (381 genoa lane).
Wine Dancing with DJ Jeremy McGuigan & Sara B. Dancin’ | Sunday, Feb. 22, 2-5 p.m. (Reno)
This free event at Reno Public Market (299 E Plumb Ln) brings boots, wine, and line dancing together. Dark Horse Winery will be offering wine tasting flights. Don’t worry if you’re new to it—there will be demonstrations and expert guidance to teach you all the steps.
Western Lights Festival | Feb. 19-21 (Reno)
The Western Lights Festival transforms six blocks and three city plazas in downtown Reno—from West Street Plaza to the Virginia Street Bridge—into a spectacular outdoor gallery. Stroll through dazzling, illuminated installations and interactive experiences that showcase Nevada’s cultural hub like never before.
Southern Nevada
15th Annual Chinese New Year in the Desert Parade and Festival | Saturday, Feb. 21, starting 11 a.m. (Las Vegas)
This annual parade celebrating the Lunar New Year will be going down East Fremont St. in downtown Las Vegas, near the Container Park. Expect cultural performances, vendor showcases, and a high-energy dance fitness session that gets everyone moving. Stick around after the parade for the festival in the Container Park where the performances and celebrations continue.
Love On Jackson Block Party | Saturday, Feb. 21, noon-3 p.m.
The city of Las Vegas will celebrate Black History Month and the Historic Westside with a free block party on Jackson between D and F streets. The Love on Jackson Block Party will include live entertainment, a farmers market, car and motorcycle show, youth activities, local businesses, community service providers and refreshments, while supplies last.
Black History Month Community Celebration | Saturday, Feb. 21, 1:30-4:30 p.m. (North Las Vegas)
Come to the Aliante Nature Discovery Park (2627 Nature Park Dr.) and enjoy this free celebration with local vendors, food trucks, live DJ and performances, kids activities, and community resources.
Kemet in the Desert Series | Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21 at 7 p.m.
The 13th annual Black Weekend: Kemet in the Desert is a cultural celebration of the African diaspora taking place at the West Las Vegas Theatre (951 W. Lake Mead Blvd.) This series enlightens and awakens the community by presenting world-renowned master teachers of African history, culture and religion. This event is free. Doors open at 6 p.m. And seating is first-come, first-served.
Spring Festival | Sunday, Feb. 22, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. (Las Vegas)
Celebrate the lunar new year with lion dances, performances, arts and crafts, food truck vendors, community resources, pop up vendors, workshops, games, and community! Entry is free. The festival will be taking place at the Desert Breeze Community Center (8275 Spring Mountain Rd.
Snowshoe Camp | Feb. 20-22 (Las Vegas)
Ready to enjoy all the fresh snow? Sign up for this two day, two night camp in Lee Canyon (for ages 13+). All equipment is provided for the day and night hikes. Registration online is required, and it’s $50 per person, which includes access to Camp Lee, cabin usage, equipment rental and Sunday breakfast. Waivers, map, and information sheet will be emailed upon registration.
