🏜️ Mojave Shadows art and science exhibit reception

Tuesday, April 14, 5-8 p.m. (Las Vegas)

Mojave Shadows is a collaborative art and science exhibition exploring the vital role of shade in sustaining life in the Mojave Desert, featuring photography, painting, illustration, and essays created at Avi Kwa Ame National Monument. The exhibition at Nevada Humanities (1017 S. 1st St., Unit 190) runs through May 27. The reception April 14 will include a curator’s talk at 6 pm.

 

💬 OLLI Art at the Museum: Stewart Indian School and Cultural Center

Wednesday, April 15, 2-3 p.m. (Reno)

Be part of this talk at the Nevada Museum of Art (160 W Liberty St) and learn about the cultural and historical legacy of the Stewart Boarding School, from its founding in 1890 to its closure in 1980. Now a site of remembrance and education, Stewart honors the first students from Great Basin Tribes, as well as all students and families impacted by the boarding school experience. This program is in partnership with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Tickets are $15. 

 

🎨 Watercolor Nature Journaling

Friday, April 17, 2-4 p.m. (Las Vegas)

Enjoy an art session in the surrounding beauty of Corn Creek (Desert National Wildlife Refuge, 16001 Corn Creek Rd). Nature journaling is a meaningful way to connect to a place and express your creativity. Artists of all ages are invited to participate. All materials provided. 

 

💫 Planets in Pajamas

Friday, April 17, 7:30-9 p.m. (Elko)

Get cozy and explore the night sky, learn about the planets, and gaze through telescopes to see the wonders of the solar system at the California Trail Interpretive Center. Perfect for families, kids, and anyone who loves stargazing.

 

👧 Clark County Children’s Festival

Saturday, April 18, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. (Las Vegas)

This free festival at Winchester Dondero Cultural Center (3130 S McLeod Dr) includes the Children’s Entrepreneur Market, arts and crafts, youth activities, food, and live performances.

 

🛍️ 5th Annual Vintage Bazaar 

Saturday, April 18, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (Las Vegas)

Shop at over 30 outside vendors in addition to the Charleston Antique Mall (560 S Decatur Blvd).  The event is free to attend and we have plenty of free parking. 

 

🌎 Earth Day Celebration

Saturday, April 18, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (Las Vegas)

This fun-filled, family-friendly event at Springs Preserve shines a light on water conservation, pollution prevention, waste reduction, and natural resource protection. General admission for Nevada residents $9.95 adults, $4.95 children (ages 3-17). 

 

🐶 Brews & Belly Rubs 

Saturday, April 18, noon-4 p.m. (Reno)

Expect local brews, food trucks, games, and adoptable dogs at The Brewer’s Cabinet Production Facility (8565 White Fir St.) This event is open to all ages and is all about coming together as a community, enjoying the moment, and supporting pets in need.
